Welcome Letter – July 12, 2021

Greetings Foundation Academy Families:

On behalf of the staff, I am happy to welcome you to the 2021-22 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject

During the course of the year, it is my hope that we will continue to work together to provide our scholars the best opportunities in preparing them to be productive citizens and creative, critical thinkers!

We are proud to announce that have some great projects planned for this upcoming school year.  We are installing another playground area off the west wing doors featuring a Gaga Pit.  We will also be utilizing our traverse wall in the gym.  We are expanding our cafeteria equipped with sound-proof barriers.  Each classroom now will be completed with a doc camera and an interactive or SmartBoard for teaching and learning.

I would also like to introduce Mrs. Deb Rife, our new assistant principal.  She joined us July 1, 2021 and brings a wealth of experience and skills to our community.

Again, we thank you for choosing Foundation Academy as your choice of educational advancement and success.  Our door remains open and I welcome your questions, concerns, and suggestions. Please feel free to stop in or call to make an appointment with our Administrative Assistant, Miss Julie Cornell.  We look forward to making this year our best year yet!

Yours in Education,

Mitzi Kimani, Principal

The ACCEL Schools Difference

We are a proud member of ACCEL Schools—a public charter school network serving thousands of PK-12 students throughout the United States. ACCEL was founded in 2012 by the early pioneers of online learning. Our leadership believes that all children, regardless of location or socio-economic background, deserve a quality education that prepares them to succeed in school and become productive global citizens.

ACCEL Schools Instructional Model provides:

  • Certified, Licensed Teachers and a student-centered staff are united in executing our mission to make a difference in the life trajectory of each student.
  • More Time on Task and double the instructional minutes for ELA and Math maximizes learning in your child’s school day.
  • Short Cycle Assessments keep track of how students are progressing in the program, giving teachers ongoing feedback so they can tailor instruction to your student’s needs.
  • Individualized Instruction driven by assessment data means we are familiar with the needs of each child and set students up for success in each course of study.
  • State Testing Preparation reduces the anxiety often associated with high stakes tests, helping our teachers and students feel confident with the structure and methodology of state exams.
